Description

:bulletred: First I would like to mention and clear the air, I realize some people are probably tired of hearing of this or seeing it on the news, being reminded of it etc but I started this a few days after I heard of it from gathering my ideas together and putting it into a piece like this. I've never done something like this that I visioned, never thought I could do it. Even tho I used a few references I was still able to put my idea down and make it come alive. I realize this happened over a month ago but this took me weeks to do.

I wanted to do something that had a lot of meaning and have everything in the picture have meaning from a small reference to a weeping willow tree which are my favorite. Was going for a half dead one. You get it tho, I won't spoil others for you tho. I realize that shadows angles may seem a bit off remember it's my first time doing something like this. I've done collages combining images but never creating a full image/vision in my head.

Not only am I glad to have pushed myself to do this but also because I finally achieved something I didn't think I could and I have a piece to call my own, something different and one of a kind to me.

:bulletblue:References I used
This one was used for the stump of the tree
This one was for the tombstones
This one was for the bats
This one was used for the pose

:bulletgreen: Tools Used
Pencils from 4H to 4B
2B Mechanical Pencil
Q-Tip for smoothing light areas, Stump for smoothing dark areas.
Time.. umm weeks. lol Lost track of exact time! 3 Weeks+

Wanna know the meaning behind some parts ? Read at your own risk!
:bulletred:The card with the J's and Heart in red was my way of showing that the Joker was there showing his sympathy and that no matter what, that two people who go through anything can still come together.
:bulletgreen:The Tree (Weeping Willows) are my favorite, they are beautiful but can also show sadness from the movement and the way the tree looks. I also believe there is a firework that looks similar and sounds like rain those are my favorite as well. I was also inspired by the one tree down our street which looks completely dead and is half hallow, yet still sprouts fully during warm weather.
:bulletblue:The Batman reference I used was the main key choosing from so many (from the dark knight promos) and with help from a few friends we decided that one was best showing his love.
:bulletyellow:I really wanted the bat signal/symbol there but didn't want it to be so obvious like many Batman pieces. I still didn't know how to do it until I was halfway through with the bats and decided to leave all bats as silhouettes and have the last one flying towards you. So its really a bat/silhouette but also the bat symbol in the sky at the same time.
:bulletblue:The moon I shall mention here only to clear things up. Some have thought I added catwoman but putting a cat on the moon but in fact I just failed at drawing a good moon and realized after a few mentions that it does look like a cat in a way. So I think its cool how that turned out in the end, even unexpecting for myself.

The only thing that ruins it for me is the Joker card. Otherwise, this is a great piece of art.
